Important distinction: Issuer banks issue FASTags. Distributors and Point of Sale (PoS) agents distribute tags on behalf of an issuer and must be authorised by that issuer. This page links to NPCI's issuer references and the relevant authorisation guidelines; it does not represent a complete public list of every distributor.

FASTag was widely recognised as a highway toll payment instrument, but its digital identification and payment proposition could serve a broader mobility market. Parking operators needed simpler vehicle entry, exit and fee collection. Fleet owners and transporters needed structured toll-payment options across vehicles. Malls, airports and commercial properties needed digital collection options at busy parking locations. The opportunity was to extend FASTag from a single-purpose tolling use case into a business-to-business mobility proposition.
At Airtel Payments Bank, Afzal introduced and developed the B2B FASTag line of business to address parking, fleet and enterprise requirements alongside the established highway use case.
The proposition connected the FASTag payment layer with parking technology partners, fleet platforms and merchant-acquiring capabilities. In parking environments, the intended journey linked vehicle identification at entry and exit with the operator's fee calculation and digital collection workflow. At malls and commercial sites, acquiring capabilities supported electronic acceptance and settlement of parking collections.
For truck and fleet customers, the partner proposition focused on business onboarding and FASTag use across transport and logistics operations. The work aligned the bank's product and commercial proposition with partner capabilities and operating requirements. Implementations varied by partner and site; this is a business-development account, not a claim of one identical technical deployment.
Parking and mobility relationships included Park+, StackFusion (Parkzap), BarrelScope, Valetez and ParkoBot. These relationships supported the parking technology and operator ecosystem. For fleet and truck use cases, partnerships included LocoNav, WheelsEye and BlackBuck, engaging platforms serving fleet owners, transporters and logistics businesses.
Afzal's role covered partner identification, commercial proposition development, relationship building and connecting partner requirements with Airtel Payments Bank's FASTag and acquiring capabilities. The objective was to create a repeatable B2B channel rather than rely only on individual consumer FASTag issuance.
The initiative established a distinct B2B FASTag business line and expanded the bank's addressable use cases into parking, malls, fleets and trucking. It created opportunities across FASTag transactions, parking collections and merchant acquiring, with potential for recurring enterprise relationships. It also positioned FASTag as part of a wider mobility payments stack.
The B2B FASTag line was reported as contributing approximately 15% of Airtel Payments Bank's GMV, equivalent to around ₹500 crore annually. This is a business-line outcome, not a claim that each partner or parking deployment individually generated that amount. No unsupported site count, transaction count or adoption percentage is presented.
KNOW THE ECOSYSTEM
B2B FASTag extends highway RFID technology into parking sites and malls. Dedicated overhead RFID readers capture the vehicle's FASTag ID at entry/exit boom barriers, querying the NETC mapper for real-time debit against the issuer bank.
NPCI requires certified acquirer banks, standardized reader hardware, low-latency API connections to the NETC mapper, and compliance with KYV (Know Your Vehicle) and dispute settlement rules.
